St. Louis, Missouri, a city known for its towering Gateway Arch, rich blues history, and deep-rooted baseball culture, seems an unlikely birthplace for a band as stark and unrelenting as Like Heaven. While the city thrives on tradition and Midwestern charm, Like Heaven is a dark juxtaposition—a blistering response to the weight of expectation and nostalgia.
Formed from the ranks of some of St. Louis' most respected hardcore and punk bands, Like Heaven merges speed and melancholy into an unflinching sonic assault. Featuring ex-members of Time and Pressure (Drew & David) and current members of Squint (David), Fortunate Son (Luca), and Blight Future and Family Medicine (Chris), the band is a collective force of seasoned musicians bringing their distinct influences into a tightly wound, volatile package.
Sonically, Like Heaven channels the urgency of American Nightmare and Panic, the evolution of Ceremony (both past and present), and the raw emotional edge of Lovechild. Their lyrical approach—influenced by the likes of George Hirsch from Blacklisted and Dominic Mallory (Last Lights), combined with the poetic melancholy of Richard Brautigan and the stark narratives of John Darnielle—paints a picture of inner turmoil and resilience.
On record, they are deliberate and relentless. Live, they are an explosion of catharsis and precision. Like Heaven isn't here to comfort—it's here to confront, to galvanize, and to carve out a space for those who find solace in the noise.
